Here we are in Prague, capital of Czech Republic, is the largest city in the country, since 1922 the center of Prague has been included in the Unesco list of human heritage sites.
Experiencing a vacation in Prague is like living in a dream , not surprisingly it has been given the names of ” the golden city “, ” city of 100 towers “, ” crown of the world” . Her beauty was admired by the likes of Mozart , Beethoven, Apollinaire . Some unforgettable views of the city can be seen from the towers of Prague , the Old Town is the heart of the oldest part, on the right bank of the Vltava River .The Castle district is an old neighborhood that has maintained its renaissance and baroque , not accepting the intrusion of the modern.
The castle is a national monument, symbol of more than a millennium of development of the Czech state . It ‘s a city within a city , it includes several buildings such as the Royal Palace and the Cathedral of St. Vitus; suggestive is the walk in the picturesque Golden Lane , sequence of small , colorful houses , the home of artists and a time , they say, of the alchemists.
The Charles Bridge is the oldest bridge in Prague. Built in the place of the Judith Bridge which was destroyed by a flood in 1342 .
The Petrin lookout tower is a smaller copy of the Eiffel Tower (60 m). It was built by F. Prasil at the Jubilee exhibition of 1891 .
The astronomical clock gives a theatrical performance. Located in the wall of the Town Hall every hour until 21 a mechanism comes to life on the dial and on the astronomical calendar of the zodiac at the bottom ; the four characters that flank the clock move introducing the so-called ” procession of the Apostles” which bow down in pairs for the tourists’ delight.
The Prague National Theatre hosts one of the most important and historic theaters of the Czech capital. The neoclassical facade is a replica of the Vienna Opera .
Church of Our Lady before Tyn is an important symbol of Prague and has been for two centuries the church of the moderate Hussitess; it is one of the largest churches in Prague.
And finally at the table. The Czech meal usually starts with soup ( polevka ) . We begin with a dill soup made with sour milk.
We taste now knedliki, dumplings with bacon, sauerkraut and onion.
The main course is meat, especially the svikova , a pork fillet with salsa and sour cream . Usually the meat is strengthened by some sauces , some of which are skipped to the flame with gin and vodka .
And then we come to the dessert, but I say dessert, a dessert delirium : from crepes filled with a wide variety of jams , to plum mousse , to a delicious apple strudel.
We taste the kolacky , which are pastries filled with apricot or cottage cheese and ricotta.
We can not forget the Bohemian sleeves, which is a sweet made with walnuts, almonds , lemon, three types of sugar ( cane sugar, vanilla and granulated sugar ) flavored with cinnamon , crisp on the surface , soft inside , you usually eat it hot and it is baked in a special oven grill.
Well I must say , I return to my couch , a cup of espresso, in the stomach the dinner in Prague , but in the mind of a proud purpouse: TO RUN TOMORROW IN VILLA BORGHESE TO DISPOSE ALL THE FOOD! See you next time!
And…the journey continues!
